POTUS doesn't want war . Any reasonable person doesn't . But if you permit Little Kimmy to continue , he will hold the world for blackmail everytime he wants something and the world will never be free again . Were do you draw the line ?People talk about sending in a SEAL Team to " take him out " but don't realize that there is a US law ( from 1964 i believe ) that forbids the US from assassinations . Besides , SEAL Teams are not trained assassins . It would have to be done by one of our allies and they are too weak minded .
I sure if we really wanted to, we could look in to the private sector for a hitman group (though finding one that would be willing to be inserted into NK would be another issue). I do agree, the leader in NK feels he has weight to toss around and he will not shy in using it to bully others into getting his way.
I am not sure if the uS wants to go down the road of a hired Hit Squad . Remember the failed attempts at taking out Castro ? People are still crying about it . And if THIS President did such thing , the Left would want him executed .
I've heard tell that all this bluster is a sort of game theory-like attempt to instigate a coup among the upper leadership in DPRK. Specifically, Kim's essentials and general understand perfectly well how ill-equipped they are to handle an actual confrontation with Trump. Thus, the idea is to push DPRK far enough that the threat appears credible enough to the survival of the nation (Trump's talk about how all options are on the table over and over) so that these essentials tell Kim to GTFO, or they bop him in the head and dump him in the river, or something along those general lines.
Thus would end the Kim line, and thus Trump could make North Korea an Asian vassal.
I wonder, though, how dedicated the upper leadership is to the Kim cult and dynasty. They still maintain as far as I know the tradition that Kim Il Sung, while dead, is the Supreme leader and his sons merely occupy lower, different titles. If the cult of personality is strong enough, it is quite probable that the generals would go to the end for Kim Jong Un.
That said, I believe (contrary to social media opinion) that the leadership of DPRK are not insane, mentally or emotionally unstable, or any of those other hyperbolic unfalsifiable statements. Assuming they see no other option, I think that the aforementioned coup could certainly occur. Perhaps they'll concoct some new rule about how Un is joyously passing government onto his favourite General while he goes to meditate in the hills on the legacy of family, or whatthefuckever.
This North Korea thing has, as far as my knowledge is concerned, come completely out of the blue. Does anyone have any ideas about why now and why this strategy? Does the US government have some inside info about NK instability they can exploit? Are they looking to gain a vassal within stroking distance of Russia and China? Fuck if I know.

I don't believe it is bluster . And I think the US and maybe it's Allies has assets in DPRK trying to trigger a soft coup . An over throw would have to be done by the people as I do not think the Generals would . They have been brainwashed all their lives .

His father blackmailed the West since Clinton . If he keeps his Nukes , he stays in power and uses them to feed his people and anything else he wants . China and Russia are at the DPRK borders waiting to land grab and fill any void .
