POTUS Warns

So what is the geopolitical game plan here? What significance does DPRK play in American affairs? Is this a proxy skirmish with China, similar to Syria (w/ Russia)?

No , i don't believe this has any game plan . This I think , is honoring our commitment to Japan and South Korea . Also a Nuclear North Korea led by a mad man cannot be appeased and just let run rogue . Remember when the world appeased Hitler and what that led to ?

Here is what I suspect. China is in a difficult position to hit on little kimmie. They gave the green light to the US to do so. The facts that they voted the sanctions (with Russia) against NK shows they start to have enough with the little guy. China has way to much to lose (economically) of a conflict with the US to care for the gnome. POTUS, in his usually pictural expression, declare the US with unleash a fire never seen before in the Universe....Translation: a couple tomahawks well targeted will calm down the dwarf

IMO , China is suspect in this matter . Sure economically they would lose if they don't back the US and in the eyes of the world they would lose face but they do like NK there as a buffer zone between them and the free world just as the former USSR used the Eastern Bloc .They do have to fear a Nuclear NK which will bring problems to the in any case . People tend forget that China still a Communist country . I wonder more about Chinese motives more than US .

yeah China is nothing of a communist country, that's only for the show. Like the US, China is a plutocracy. They maintain a communist image because they need to keep control inside, but we are very far from Marx doctrine. Buffer zones tactically do not mean anything anymore. With the technology of today, you can do drone attacks, long range missile and use fast deployment force (seals, Delta, SAS, Foreign Legion). China understood that
