Yesterday I started to sext with someone the profile says was 25. This was on a different site but like this one you just had to click saying you are over 18. Today I received a text from another phone number saying was her father and she was only 16, that after her mother caught her she was put on suicide watch. He wants me to pay the $3900 cost or he will go to police. I am scared at this point if I did wrong and subject to arrest or being scammed. I may have some of the blame but it was from a 18+only site.

Looks like if you are going to sext ask for photo ID up front.

The local county attorny and local police say sounds as scam, I won't know and will have this hanging over me until they come put the cuffs on me

Probably a scam. You really should be cautious giving out your phone number....

As long as you can prove that she never at anytime she told you she was underage. You would be better off informing ur local police force of the occurring situation.

If true, this would also be known as blackmail, so the "father" could get in trouble as well.

i have since contaced my county attorny's office

and local police department. they said probably a scam but couldnt do much until charges came here from carolinas.

I have since googeld and found this exact scam on the internet from last year. and filed with FBI
i am now feeling a little better but after others thinking some minors were on this site yesterday, IF i ever do a pm to see or chat i will be asking for age verification

from an atty's web page while researching this matter.
Whether the father is sincere or perpetrating a scam, in North Carolina, extortion is a felony.
A person can never offer to refrain from pursuing criminal charges in exchange for money.

so you are right that to make this go away they can not offer to recieve funds
