This was a 8 day backcountry backpacking trip through the Superstition Wilderness in Arizona. Beautiful desert landscape. The scorpion pictured I found in my shoe one morning. This is why we always shake out our boots before putting them on LOL!!!
OMG I was born on the wrong continent and I am in desperate need of a travel companion! Just.. wow! Blows me!

I went as high as the glacier, about 12,000 feet, after starting in a temperate rainforest of western cedar and Douglas fir. One of the perks of my career as I was in Seattle working for a month. I took a long weekend, drove 2 hrs to Mt Rainier National Park and spent 3 days exploring this beautiful place.

IMG_1757.jpegIMG_1693.jpegIMG_1694.jpegIMG_1657.jpegIMG_1666.jpegSequioadendron giganticum…giant sequoia, the largest trees in the world by volume. Only found growing naturally on in the Sierra Nevada Mtns in California. I took these pics while backpacking in Sequoia National Forest. Without any scale the sheer size of these trees are difficult to represent in a photo from my phone. While the redwoods (only growing naturally along the Northern California and southern Oregon coasts) are the tallest trees in the world, the tallest is close to 380 feet. The giant sequoia grow slightly shorter 300 feet but have the largest volume. I highly recommend if you can seeing these massive trees, standing under them they whisper as the breeze moves through the canopies and you can hear them creaking in the wind.
