The real Cold Mountain is about 45 minutes from where I live. And some of the movie was shot in the area.

Also the first 3 Hunger games movies were shot in parts near me. All the town scenes and the rolling hills they show are in an area about an hour away. The giant tree and cornucopia scene from the first movie was set up about an hour from me too, in a different area. The tree was hauled in and planted there just for the movie. Know a guy who worked as a truck driver and shuttle driver for the production company. He met Woody Harrolson and some other actors.
