Picture 1 is the old quarry building for the now-closed Joliet Prison, where the opening scenes of the Blues Brothers were filmed. The first inmates of the prison worked at this quarry mining the stone that built the very place they would be housed. Picture 2 is the admin and main building of the prison.

Just a few floral shots I've taken.

Love the sinister feel to the pics! I read that Joliet Prison was also the place where the first season of Prison Break was filmed. The Joliet limestone has a hardness from 3 to 4 on the Mohs scale. Meaning the stone can be scratched by a copper penny (hardness 3.5) or a steel nail (hardness 5.5). Not the best material to build a prison from.

I wasn't aware of the hardness. Thank you, that's very cool.

I'd heard about Prison Break being filmed but didn't know it actually was.

I was looking for this photo. This is the NE Corner of the prison, reflecting in the pool where the stone was mined.

I like this one very much, I feel drawn to reflections because they remind me of the multidimensional quantum world we are living in. The photo is beautifully balanced, made more interesting by the light and a beautiful haze above the water. Beyond the water, inside the building, the world ends, life in the prison at its peak.

The title says it all. Captured this picture of the moon over Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin.

Love it! A subtle reflection of the moonrise. Orange moons are awesome. Trees, lakes, mountains, nature is so beautiful but the moon is Earth's only natural satellite and has infinite effect on the landscape, the water and therefore on people. Orange moons make me feel like I am living on a magical planet.

This might be the strangest natural (???) phenomenon I have ever witnessed. It was about 1 in the afternoon (‎August 16th ‎2023, ‏‎01:03:00). Zooming in on the pic, the shadows of the crossing lines are visible. This photo is an original, no alterations. IMG20230514152332.jpg
