What I’m listening to...

This is my all time favorite song. It reminds me of home, the upper peninsula of Michigan and Lake Superior. It’s the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald, a large ore freighter which sank during a massive storm on Lake Superior in 1975 with all hands. The music is haunting and the lyrics are like poetry.

I hope the link works, I’ve never copied and pasted a link here before.

It works! Love this song. First heard it years ago...the air was used for an Irish song "Back Home In Derry" (written by Bobby Sands, one of the prisoners that went on hunger strike during the Troubles in Northern Ireland).

I grew up with this song. I was 5 when it happened. My grandfather worked on the Great Lakes his whole life even for a brief time on the Fitz, he knew some of the crew which were lost.
I know this song by heart and have listened to it most of my life. Every time I hear the words “all that remains is the faces and names of the wives and the sons and the daughters” I get chills and my eyes tear up.
