The reason I'm not a fan of that version is because it makes the entire tone of the song feel off. Dudes at the end of his rope, raging about having no one or no where to turn to and thinking ending it is his only option, begging for someone to save him from himself. The version you like, for me, softens it too much to have the same impact as the original considering the subject matter. But we all like what we like, right? Not judging you sweety, just disagreeing. Doesn't mean I love you any less.
