I did not know about maple and linden trees, but I read an article in a newspaper dated 06-19-1893 that lapsana communis does not close its flowers at night, it will rain. It caused me to check for other plants in my garden that could tell me about the coming weather. Actually a lot of species do.

Really? I’ve not heard that one before. I learned the sailor version when I was 5 or 6 in Cub Scouts hahaDespite the fact I grew up near a seaside town full of fishing boats, the version I learned as a child had shepherds instead of sailors![]()
