Nostalgia

Ohhhh I remember that one…great album. I also remember my Walkman, then later my Discman lol. I remember growing up in the 70s listening to my dad’s vinyl collection…Cream, Grateful Dead, The Doors, Pink Floyd. First album (cassette tape) I bought with my money..Led Zeppelin’s first album.
Oh yeah, I had a walkman and then I think one that was Philips. My dad has vinyls too, Sex Pistols, The Ramones, The Clash etc. Mother listened to David Bowie a lot.

Part of my book collection.
What a beautiful space!!! My collection isn’t quite that large but I keep my favorites. Mainly history, philosophy, books on nature and poetry. I’m a minimalist in every facet of my life so I tend to pass books I read along to family, friends or I donate to the local library. But if I had to guess my collection contains maybe 200 or so volumes..thanks for the peak into your sanctuary

We have the same genres! I don't get minimalism though. Because you liked the peak, this is the other side of the sanctuary. I sold it about 5 years ago.

You have a beautiful home!!!
I adopted a minimalist lifestyle following the end of my marriage. I own very little of anything except for my books and my backpacking kit (I have a shit ton of gear..too much lol). Because of my constant travel I’m probably more of a gypsy or vagabond…no need to own much. Probably why I love backpacking, carry only what I absolutely need on my back. It’s really very liberating!!

It makes me wonder: how does the free and minimalist lifestyle relate to nostalgia? I sold the home by the way. Bought another place that needs the works, it will be ready end of next year.

Hard to imagine traveling constantly and moving like a gypsy. Books are heavy to carry with you. The backpacking keeps your body in good shape!

I guess you’re right…that lifestyle doesn’t relate to nostalgia. It just came out as part of my comment to your library. I suppose none of that relates directly to nostalgia.

I don’t travel with the books. They stay at the small place I call home when not traveling for work.

I meant it in a different way. I read this thread and I see how you are the one that is reacting to all of our posts from your heart. So I thought, is there a connection between vagabonding and loving things that bring back memories?

You know what, I’m not entirely sure. In my gut and my heart I feel this was a life I was meant to live. Growing up I always idolized explorers or people that thumb their noses at cultural norms. I remember watching Kung Fu as a kid and wishing I could be like Kane. Wandering from place to place. Post divorce I had the opportunity to turn my life upside down and try to live some of what I dreamed about. So to answer the question…I’m not sure because I’m still figuring it out. Although, lately I’ve found myself thinking about and reliving the past and choices I made much more frequently. So part of me is wondering if the universe isn’t trying to show me something. Hope that makes a little sense..
