Nostalgia

There is a song that reminds me of a happier time in my past. It was when I owned the home from the previous pictures and where my son and I lived together when he was a 3-12 y/o (he's almost 24 now). There was a phase that he had found out about the reactions from the girls at school to his appearance. The first time he found out about that, his trousers were ripped because he tried to run away from a herd of girls all trying to make him their catch. Unfortunately 'Romeo' tripped and his pants ripped. Of course he was embarrassed. He tried to make up for it by asking me to take him to school in our new car, a black BMW Z3 convertible. It was only a 5 minute drive, he put his tiny arm on the door and had to lean over :D. His hair was styled the way he liked it, as a cock's comb :D:D, sunglasses on of course, and the only song he wanted to be played was this song:

And oh yeah, the volume had to be turned up to its absolute maximum. At 8:15 in the morning, through our village.

Nala, my dog. She died in 2023 and she is still with me on my walks. She responded to Japanese commands, because she could pee or shit when I told her so and I would be embarrassed if people would hear me tell her: "Go on, Nala, take a shit."

My parents visited yesterday unexpectedly, and we got to reminiscing. Dad had been rummaging in his extensive photo collection, and was sharing some he'd captured on his phone to show me. One of my favourites is this one, of my sister next to an enormous cabbage which mum had purchased from a neighbour who used to go door to door selling vegetables. Isn't she the cutest?

IMG_8378.jpegI love this pic of my son at 2 years old…at the ocean for the first time. He’s 25 now. I find myself looking at this pic the most often as of late. I really miss all of our adventures together when he was younger. The kid was fearless. I remember how excited he was at 10 years old the first time I took him on a backcountry backpacking trip. Sleeping in a forest at night, being cold or wet, the bugs and dirt, none of it phased him. He’s grown know and very busy so finding time for adventures is becoming less frequent. Our household was me, mom, and his 3 sisters…as the only guys the time we had together was special. Miss that…
