Post a Photo

Seems like the only thing I take pictures of is the moon. I love the moon!

This is a picture I took on a field trip during a photography class at the community college. I call it "Two Barns and a Truck". We visited this site and looked around. As the class was leaving, I turned around and took this when no one was there. When I got it into the computer, I added a bit of saturation and, if I remember correctly, reduced the exposure slightly and added what's called Structure, which enhances details. Then added a slight dark vignette to the edges. I do think I would have adjusted the composition a little to the right but for a quick shot I think it worked.

This photo tells the story of a bridge built by people who didn't just construct a bridge out of steel, concrete, and masonry, but also sought to elevate it to an art form. In my opinion, they succeeded. If you hadn't bothered to go to the point where the photo was taken, this photo would have been much less interesting. A+ for the composition, because you perfectly captured the interplay of lines and placed everything in a subdued light, making the bridge even more impressive.
Thank you so much. I did walk around a bit but once i found the spot I was able to get the composition I wanted. And I was really using the leading lines of the near bridge to draw the eye across.

Again loving your photo that again tells a story, very well done! The vignette takes away from the already beautifully aged composition, but on the other hand it brings some softness to the image.

Where I live there are tons of lighthouses. This one is in the town south of me where is lived for many years. It's know as the Asylum Point lighthouse because it's near a facility. I would go here a lot in the early mornings since the sun was to the left as you look at the photo and created beautiful colors in the sky over the lake.

Is that a fish on top of the lighthouse? What I find fascinating in your picture is how small the lighthouse looks. Is it a small lighthouse or does it look small because of the tree behind it? The composition makes me wonder about that. Was this your intention?

I read that the lighthouse never got lit. What I find fascinating in general is why so many of these institutions for the insane throughout the USA were 'built' 1850's-1900's. Why did so many people all of a sudden got mentally ill and why would they build such exquisite buildings 'just' to house the insane?

I was asked to snap some wedding pictures at my brother's wedding. This is one of my favorites, because it makes me think of the Abbey Road cover although I like this photo better :D . I took it from a car, luckily we had to stop. The waving people were actually guests to the wedding, going towards the place where the reception was held; we did not plan the encounter. This year was their 10th wedding anniversary.
